Downtown Shuttle Doubles Fare

Fares for MTD’s popular downtown shuttle will double from 25 cents a ride to 50 cents in response to funding cuts from the City of Santa Barbara’s Redevelopment Agency. That agency was abolished outright by order of the California Supreme Court earlier this year, the result of a protracted face-off between the State Legislature and the California League of Cities over the Legislature’s legal right to raid redevelopment agency coffers.
