A gray Mercedes-Benz on Monday afternoon crashed through a doorway of the Bank of America building on Coast Village Road. According to a Santa Barbara City Fire Facebook posting, the car’s driver walked away from the wreck uninjured, and no one inside the Montecito branch was hurt.
“Minor damage to the building was noted and a Santa Barbara City building inspector was consulted,” the post reads. Police are investigating the accident.

Just because you are walking on the sidewalk doesn't mean that you shouldn't always be alert for cars. I have personally seen two car accidents in which a car ended up on the sidewalk in SB (both at busy intersections). Its was just a miracle that no one was standing there either time. I tell my kids to always stand back from the corner or behind a pole when they are waiting for the light to change.

It's true, I avoid sidewalks at all costs. When I go shopping, I go through the manholes and travel through the sewer system to get where I want to go.
I may smell, but I'm safe!

I'm not so sure about that. I hear that SB has mutant lobsters in the sewers.

Does that bank have a target on it? I think this is the second or third time it's been hit.

HAHAHAHA! yeah, you'd think there was a bullseye paited on the entrance.
I remember when the BoA in Carpinteria got an unexpected visit from an elderly lady in a Cadillac.
But seriously, if you think the problem is bad here, check out my home state of FL.
There's youtube video of a car plowing through a Publix supermarket in Palm Coast, FL that you simply HAVE to see.
It looked like a snowplow... A FAST moving snowplow! Surprised that NOBODY was kille in that accident! Watch the vid & you'll see what I mean :) henry

Could've happened to a worser bank, but it didn't. Wait a minute---they're pretty much ALL bad.

These incidences are often a result of an elderly driver being under medication.

He had just gassed up at the chevron, and his mind was still reeling from the volume of the tv screen ads.

If he gassed up on the Chevron on Coast Village Road, then he probably needed to make an emergency withdrawal to pay the bill.

Haha both of you. But seriously, those TV's are annoying and calling the service PumpFlix is misleading. The only movies they be playing are trailers of upcoming attractions.
Happily go across the street, pay a little more if it means I won't be harassed by hucksters as I fuel up.

That's the bank that Tyler Fourmy ran into after he fatally injured a pedestrian at the intersection with Butterfly Lane. SBPD said there was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement when they responded to the crash, Tyler said there was a sudden steering problem, the van mysteriously was released from the towing company's premises and destroyed as salvage, the husband of the woman who was killed sued Tyler's parents, the owners of the Compassion Center on DeLaVina, which was referred to as "an invaluable resource to the community" by Dr. Stephen Hosea, Cottage Hospital Director of Clinical Care, with similar comments from many others, now shut down by the city. A kid who made the mistake of having parents who owned a cannabis dispensary, instead of a police chief father like Lacy Strange in Lompoc, who killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk while texting, although she did get a 1 year sentence for killing someone in a crosswalk because she wasn't looking at the road while crossing an intersection. This link has a pic of the van and the bank.

jshir: Check for cracks in those sewer pipes while you're down there. If you see any, maybe the city can sue Channelkeepers.
I had a 19 year-old tenant several years ago who was drunk enough that he drove over the curb and parked on what would have been the sidewalk if there was one - had older buds carrying in cases of beer. I called SBPD because of my liability as a landlord and the dispatcher said "what do you want me to do - come over and chew him out".
