Face painters and balloon artists will be on hand to help the children celebrate, and there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony before the doors officially open at 10am. The celebration will start at 9:30am in the Library Plaza, with FREE face painting and balloons from 9:30am until noon. The Central Library is located at 40 East Anapamu Street.

The Central Library has been closed on Monday for the past two years due to budget reductions. This month the Santa Barbara City Council approved the new City Budget, which included additional funding to restore Monday hours at the Central Library beginning July 2. When the City Council proposed and approved the reopening of the Eastside Library in March of this year, the Council also directed staff to develop a budget to reopen the Central Library on Monday beginning in July.

Effective June 30, the libraries’ schedules will be:

· Central Library – Monday-Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-5:30pm, and Sunday 1-5pm

· Eastside Library – Monday and Tuesday 10am-7pm, Wednesday-Friday 10am-5:30pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and closed on Sunday
