SBCC Women’s Veterans Recognition and Resource Day

Santa Barbara City College’s Veterans Student Support Program hosted a special recognition and resource event for women veteran students on Wednesday, March 21.

The program was held in recognition of Women’s History Month and California Women’s Military Week from March 19–March 23.

Attendees at the SBCC Women’s Veterans Recognition and Resource Day included (l to r) veteran student Cindy Rios, veteran student Lenny Gonzales, SBCC Veterans Student Support Program Advisor Magdalena Torres, California Department of Veterans Affairs’ Deputy Secretary for Women Affairs Lindsey Wathen, veteran student Esther Roberts, and veteran student Teija Kinnenun.

Lindsey Wathen, Deputy Secretary for Women Veterans Affairs in the California Department of Veterans Affairs, was the special noon keynote speaker. More than 20 community organizations and SBCC departments were on hand to share resource information for veterans.
