BAPTIZING BELLA: For the past seven years, Independent staffers who work past 5 p.m. have come to know Jesus Sanchez as a guy who cleans the office on Wednesdays and Fridays with a friendly smile on his face and bounce to his step. But ever since July 2 of last year, Sanchez’s happiness has only grown more pronounced — that’s the day his daughter Bella Sofia was born, and this past April 14, she was baptized at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Ojai, near the home he shares with his wife, Herminia, and stepdaughter Cathia. A native of Guanajuato, Mexico, who’s lived in California for 20 years and now runs his own business called Eagle Carpet Cleaning, Sanchez proudly explained, “This was a wonderful experience to introduce our daughter to God.”
