While there is never a good time to close the main public swimming pool, the weeklong closure was chosen to have the least impact on all facility users while ensuring the project can be completed without weather delays. Modified swim programming at the Santa Barbara High School pool has been arranged to minimize the impacts for all of the pool’s patrons and user groups.

The existing pool heaters are over twenty seven years old and the last remaining equipment has not been replaced since the facility remodel in 1993. The project calls for the pool to be drained while the existing pool heaters are demolished, removed and replaced with new energy efficient heaters. Additionally, during this closure the expansion line in the pool will be replaced and new water added to fill the pool.
