Popular Montecito Post Office Re-Opens

A popular Montecito post office, previously located in the shopping center on Coast Village Road next to Starbucks, has re-opened in temporary quarters nearby.

The new post office is housed in the Montecito Country Mart at 1026 Coast Village Road. Its entrance faces a courtyard walkway, directly across from the main entrance to Von’s grocery store.

For more than 25 years, the post office operated inside the Read ‘n’ Post store. Both the post office and Read ‘n’ Post closed temporarily in late April when their lease was not renewed.

Re-opening the post office is our first step toward resuming full Read ‘n Post operations,” said manager Jan Hendrickson. “We expect to bring back the rest of the store in mid to late June.”

The new Read ‘n Post location will also be in the Montecito Country Mart. In addition to containing the post office, the store will carry a large selection of magazines, newspapers, greeting cards and other items that were sold in its former location.

Hendrickson said she expects to announce an exact opening date for the new Read ‘n Post by early June. “The loyal and enthusiastic support we have received from so many people in Montecito and Santa Barbara has been extremely rewarding,” she added. “We are pleased to have the post office available now to serve our customers, and we look forward to re-opening the full store next month.”

Hours at the post office are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Patrons may purchase stamps and money orders, ship domestic and foreign packages, and handle most other post office business. Regular U.S. Postal Service rates apply.
