Santa Barbara Named Purple Heart County


The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution this week to formally recognize members of the armed forces wounded or killed during combat by proclaiming Santa Barbara a Purple Heart County. The resolution, sponsored by 1st District Supervisor Salud Carbajal, was accepted by members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a national veterans’ service organization, after a Presentation of Colors and Pledge of Allegiance led by the Vandenberg Air Force Base Honor Guard.
