Santa Barbara’s Breweries Shine Again at Great American Beer Festival

Breweries with Santa Barbara ties scored big in Denver again this October, taking home a keg-load of medals from the Great American Beer Festival, arguably the top beer competition on the planet with 4,300 entries. Here are the winners, listed according to how much love they got, starting with the biggest winner.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company: Double Barrel Ale (gold medal, Ordinary or Special Bitter); Wookey Jack (gold medal, American-Style Black Ale); Double Jack (bronze medal, India Pale Ale)

Island Brewing Company: Starry Night Stout (gold medal, Foreign-Style Stout); Bourbon Barrel-Aged Night Sail (silver medal, Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer)

Telegraph Brewing Company: Petit Obscura (silver, Experimental Beer); Rhinoceros Ryewine Ale (silver medal, Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale)

Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company: Wrangler Wheat (bronze, American-Style Wheat Beer); Danish Red Lager (bronze, Vienna-Style Lager); Stagecoach Stout (bronze, Oatmeal Stout)
