Navy Destroyer Coming to Town

The USS Halsey and its 338-member crew is scheduled to arrive in town September 7 and depart three days later. During the port call, the ship will be open for public tours. Advanced reservations are required. The Santa Barbara Navy League is planning a number of R&R activities for the boat’s commanders and crew, including a softball game, cocktail reception, and community service visits with seniors. The USS Halsey is the 47th ship in the Arleigh Burke Class of Aegis guided missile destroyers — the U.S. Navy’s most powerful destroyer fleet.
