The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission announces an exciting on-line opportunity for artists with an Artist Call for Entries culminating in a photographic exhibition, W. Dibblee Hoyt: Far Reaches. The County Arts Commission will present the juried exhibition of photographs at two locations; Channing Peake Gallery opening on June 6, 2013 in Santa Barbara and at the Betteravia Gallery in Santa Maria in October of 2013. If you were a student of Dibblee Hoyt at Alan Hancock College or any other private or public classes he taught, we urge you to apply and let others know about this exhibition opportunity. To enter the Call, go to http://www.sbartscommission.org; click on the Dibblee Hoyt Artist Application on the right side of the home page. Follow the instructions to submit up to five images and your information. The deadline to submit is Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 5pm.

The juror, Brett Leigh-Dicks, is an Australian-born American photographer who is based in the United States, in addition to being the curator of various touring photographic exhibitions in Australia and the US. He also contributes editorially to numerous publications and journals on all matters artistic and creative.

Dibblee Hoyt is a Santa Barbara native and received his first camera from his father at age six. He worked as a photojournalist and writer for several publications and traveled to many countries including Russia, Eastern Europe, Mexico and Central America. In 2002 Hoyt began teaching photography at Allan Hancock and in 2005 was the recipient of the part-time faculty excellence in teaching award. He is one of the founding members of the Santa Ynez Camera Club and also the Lompoc Photographers Guild of which the majority of its members are his former students. Through his teaching he has inspired and mentored many of his students to pursue professional careers in photography. This exhibition celebrates the far reaches of his teaching and the many students whose work was inspired by his dedication and love of his craft.
