The SYVCHF board of directors met recently at the hospital to name the 2013 officers and welcome two new directors.

The 2013 SYVCHF officers are: Charles “C.J.” Jackson (President), Gerry Shepherd (Vice President), Barbara Anderson (Secretary) and Kathleen Campbell (Treasurer). Returning directors are The Rev. Dr. Randall Day, Kate Firestone, Stewart Fries, Sid Goldstien, William Heringer, MD; Richard Nagler and Sandy Power.

There are two newly elected directors. The first, Tresha Sell, is office manager and also co-owner, along with her husband Mike Sell and son Sam Sell, of Rio Vista Chevrolet of Buellton and Rancho Grande Motors in San Luis Obispo. She was raised in the Santa Ynez Valley and graduated from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School and the General Motors University of Automotive Management. She previously served on the SYVCHF board for nine years serving six of those as president and also in the capacity as Co-Chair of the Building Campaign for SYVCH. Sell most recently served as president of the SYVCH Auxiliary for two years and continues as a director on the Valley Foundation board along with her other community service work with The French Maids, P.E.O TX and Rotary Club of Solvang.

The second new SYVCH director is Ernest “Ernie” Zomalt, Ph.D., of Solvang, who retired in 2000 as executive vice president from CSU, San Marcos. His master’s degree and doctorate in higher education were obtained at UCSB where he served as assistant dean of men, counselor for the off-campus studies program and assistant vice chancellor for student affairs. Zomalt has served on the boards of several community organizations, including the Girls Club of Santa Barbara and the North San Diego County Interfaith Council. He is currently president of the board of trustee of Pacifica Graduate Institute, vice -president of the board of directors of Atterdag Village of Solvang, and president of the board of trustees of the Endowment Fund of the Solvang Lutheran Home.
