City College Student Paper Wins 27 Awards

With 27 pelts, the Santa Barbara City College newspaper dominated the awards banquet at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges convention last week. The Channels was among the four highest point-scorers in on-the-spot contests held at the convention as well as those that required mail-in entries ahead of time. Student staffers Linda Sturesson and Justin Covington took home the prize for meritorious video after shooting and editing a story in 24 hours about a breast cancer survivor who leads tours at the state Capitol.
