Anthony is Elmo’s biggest fan. He met Elmo and Friends at Sesame Street Place using donated Wishes in Flight miles! The 150,000 miles donated for this wish provided a savings of $2500 as tickets were purchased less than 30 days in advance!

Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties needs donated airline miles now more than ever. Through a special matching grant, donated miles will be matched up to 1 million miles and will be used to send sick children from Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties and their families on wish trips. To donate and have your miles matched, go to http://tri-counties.wish.org/ways-to-help/wishes-in-flightsm or call 805 676 9474 x4 by August 31, 2013.

The Acts of Kindness Club, a group of children and moms at The River Oaks Academy in Westlake Village, held a miles campaign for Make-A-Wish and raised more than 500,000 of the million miles.

Make-A-Wish has purchased 27 airline tickets this year with donated miles, creating wish trips for Zachary, Breanna, Anthony, Dylan, Anthony, Natalie and Jovaan and their families. 16 more domestic tickets can be purchased if the match is completed by August 31, 2013.

416,116 more miles are needed to reach the million mile mark by August 31. A donation of 7,500 miles that is matched creates a $200 savings for Make-A-Wish.

More than half of 80+ wishes granted this year by Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties will involve air travel. Locally, 8 million donated miles are needed annually to grant wishes. In a normal year, only about 1 million miles are donated. With small pockets of miles available for donation throughout the tri-counties, airline tickets are the most avoidable significant expense for the local chapter. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
