Vounteers! Join us to help beautify our local beaches: Saturday, Aug 17 Haskells Beach

We live in a throwaway society. Eventually, some of this unending stream of garbage makes it to our beaches. The Japanese tsunami added a jillion tons of extra junk to this quagmire, with some just starting to hit the shores of Northern California. In the spirit of taking care of your backyard, AND throwing in a little science, the Santa Barbara Chapter of Surfrider is spearheading four beach clean-ups at Haskells Beach. The purpose is to clean things up AND make note of any suspected tsunami debris. So get yourself out to western Goleta and clean up your favorite beach! Saturday August 17 from 10am-noon at Haskells Beach Goleta. Meet in the public beach access parking lot next to the Bacara or down on the beach. Bags, gloves and sincere appreciation will be provided. Email us or call 899-BLUE for more information.

The fourth and last of Surfrider’s West Coast tsunami debris Clean ups witll be held at Haskells on September 21.
