Santa Barbara, CA, August 20, 2013 – Dedicated to strengthening low-income children, families, and seniors, St. Vincent’s will host its annual Golf Classic on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the beautiful La Cumbre Country Club in Hope Ranch. Proceeds will benefit St. Vincent’s Children & Family Services.

This summer fundraiser directly impacts the 600 campus residents and clients. Specifically, the proceeds support the following service programs: • St. Vincent’s Family Strengthening Program, a life-transforming two-year residential, communal

living program for low-income single or pregnant mothers and their children • St. Vincent’s Early Childhood Education Center, a fully licensed, early learning facility offering

quality, affordable childcare for infants through preschoolers • St. Vincent’s Heart, an on-site, volunteer-assisted food pantry and donation center for residents

and clients

This year’s Golf Classic has been generously funded in part by presentation sponsors Don and Sally Valpredo, the Daughters of Charity Foundation, and Daughters of Charity Health System. For St. Vincent’s, the ongoing support from the Valpredos has been instrumental to the success of the event. Says Sally Valpredo, “I am pleased to be able to assist the children, mothers, and families in need. St. Vincent’s is definitely making a difference.”

Masters sponsors include The Ann Jackson Family Foundation, Jim and Alicia McFarlane, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, CA, and St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA will sponsor the evening Awards Ceremony and Reception.

The 18-hole Texas scramble features hole-in-one contests on every par 3 with prizes that include a 2013 BMW 320i, $25,000 cash, vacation packages, and golf apparel. All players will have a chance at making the putting challenge final for $25,000 in cash winnings.

This year, St. Vincent’s, the longest, continuously-operating nonprofit human service agency in Santa Barbara, is celebrating 155 years of gratitude to its many supporters. Their generosity and dedicated efforts since 1858 have made it possible for St. Vincent’s to serve the most vulnerable residents of Santa Barbara County. That mission continues today as St. Vincent’s provides affordable housing, early childhood education, and family enrichment opportunities.
