Give A Dog A Home — ReTail Adoption Center

La Cumbre Plaza Shopping Center

Sunday, August 25, at 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm

Volunteers from our local animal shelters and rescue groups are trying something new to help shelter dogs find forever homes. La Cumbre Plaza has generously given store space to showcase adoptable dogs in Santa Barbara. “Give a Dog a Home—ReTail Adoption Center” is an opportunity for the public to spend time with the dogs away from the shelter on a weekly basis.

An innovative concept, showing off dogs in play areas and in a warm and inviting environment! We are changing the perception about shelter dogs for the better. “Give a Dog a Home—ReTail Adoption Center” is open on Sundays, making it more accessible for the community to visit and connect with these amazing dogs when the animal shelters are closed.

The ReTail Adoption Center is not only seeking forever homes for dogs, but will also provide training demonstrations, education, and resources for dog-loving members of our community. Give A Dog A Home volunteers will explain how dogs end up in shelters and teach the public how they can help make positive changes. We invite visitors to become one of the Center’s “ambassadors” by helping to spread the word about our weekly events!

La Cumbre Plaza attracts shoppers, restaurant-goers, business professionals, and mall-walking exercisers. While these groups may not be actively considering adopting a dog, they will witness interactions that can change their minds about adopting a shelter dog.

Most importantly, the center provides the opportunity to recruit desperately needed shelter volunteers and foster families to assist with the basic needs of the dogs while they await their forever families. Becoming a foster parent to a shelter dog is a very rewarding experience!
