Dr. Chin credits Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics (SBNC), Eastside Family Dental Clinic with giving her the experience and training that has prepared her for this next step in her career. “The residency program at the Eastside Family Dental Clinic has been invaluable and the orthodontic programs I applied to were extremely impressed by the amount and level of training I gained from my experience in the clinic.”

Dr. Chin graduated Cum Laude from University of Pennsylvania earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. She went on to earn her doctorate in Dental Surgery from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine in 2012. Dr. Chin has been published in the Columbia Dental Review with her paper entitled “Primary Healthcare Screenings and Outcomes in a Dental Clinic: A Case Presentation.” She has participated in various research projects from 2005 through 2011 and has maintained an active leadership and community service role over the past four years providing volunteer services with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Association of Women Dentists and the American Student Dental Association to name a few, as well as completing a global health externship in Jamaica with Healthcare International.

Dr. Quynh Nguyen, SBNC’s Chief Dental Officer stated, “This is a great achievement as Orthodontic residency selects only the top candidates who apply and Columbia is one of the most respected institutions in the field. My hope is that Dr. Chin will return to Santa Barbara so that we can refer our many pediatric patients to her for silver smiles.”

The mission of Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics is to provide high quality, comprehensive, affordable healthcare to all people, regardless of their ability to pay, in an environment that fosters respect, compassion and dignity.
