DANCING QUEEN: Amanda Arenas is one of the more eclectic interns to work at The Santa Barbara Independent. Raised in San Francisco, the UCSB senior cites science, English, and ballroom dancing as three of her favorite things — which is handy since she’s earning bachelor’s degrees in the first two and spends most of her free time perfecting her dance steps for the latter. Her myriad interests are being put to good use at the paper as she chases down stories about Zumba, heel biomechanics, and quilting. Watch for her byline in upcoming issues.
