The company, Cowboy Flavor, will serve its barbecue fare at the private tailgate village reserved for around 2,000 employees and guests of ESPN, PrimeSports, float owners, sponsors, television network executives and other VIPs. Each year the village shines with a theme, and this year it is “Sports Bar.” Cowboy Flavor will provide the barbecued meat for the village while an assortment of specialty food trucks will offer gourmet side dishes and desserts.

“We are thrilled to be selected to take Santa Maria Style Barbecue to the Rose Bowl and Parade of Roses, two of the oldest and most prestigious events celebrating the New Year,” said Billy Ruiz, who, with his wife, Sue, owns and operates Cowboy Flavor, a premier catering company that has been in business for more than 30 years. Billy is famed for his big personality and colorful look, which includes a memorable handlebar moustache.

Ruiz explained that in front of the Rose Bowl stadium is one of the largest public tailgating parties one can imagine—a sea of pick-up trucks, vans, grills and flat screen televisions. “The excitement in the air is enough to ignite anyone’s grill,” Ruiz said.

Ruiz explained that this experience will be an expansion of an opportunity his team enjoyed two years ago when Cowboy Flavor catered exclusively for RFD-TV (Rural America’s Most Important Network) executives at the Rose Bowl and even enjoyed a ride on the RFD-TV float.

“Using Harris Ranch beef, our Cowboy Flavor Seasoning and Central Coast red oak, we will be sure to score a touchdown in the name of Santa Maria Style Barbecue,” Ruiz said. “Happy New Year to all. God Bless America and God bless our troops.”
