The next Crisis Intervention Training in English begins on January 23rd and ends on March 27th 2013. The course takes place on Monday’s and Wednesday’s during the day, 10:00 am. — 1:30pm.

Applications are due on Friday, January 11th.

Lorena Bracho, Training Coordinator, said, “The greatest gift you can give a survivor is your time and compassion. You don’t have to be an expert in these issues to begin the training, but just be willing to learn about how you can make a difference in a survivor’s life.” After completing the 60-hour training, volunteers will be state-certified as Sexual Assault Counselors. As such, they will provide emotional support and information to survivors and their loved ones through SBRCC’s 24-hour Hotline and in-person counseling, as well as providing accompaniment and advocacy services. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to join the SBRCC Speakers’ Bureau to work to end sexual violence through community education.

Community members who are 16-years-old and older are invited to apply, and we especially encourage men and individuals who are Spanish/English Bilingual to become involved. To learn more about training or to apply, contact Lorena as soon as possible at lorena@sbrcc.net or 963-6832 x19. You can download an application by visiting SBRCC’s website at sbrapecrisiscenter.com.

All services are offered in Spanish and English and are available regardless of the ability to pay.
