Thirty Cities Taking Part in Statewide Promotion

Special Santa Maria Valley Restaurant and Wine Tasting Discounts

Happening January 13 – 20, 2013

Here’s how it works: Patrons are invited to mention the “DineOut: Santa Maria Style” promotion at participating restaurants, and then receive a 15 percent discount off their meal ticket (excludes alcohol, tax and gratuity). And those who mention the promotion at participating winery tasting rooms will receive a two-for-one tasting. Details on participating businesses are listed below and may also be found at www.santamariavisitor.com/DineOut.

“The event dates were chosen to coincide with California Restaurant Month, a successful statewide promotion that benefits food and wine establishments during the winter season,” said Gina Keough, manager of the Santa Maria Valley Visitor & Convention Bureau, which is coordinating the promotion.

Participating restaurants offering a 15 percent savings on meals are The Garden Room Restaurant at the Historic Santa Maria Inn; The Vintner’s Bar & Grill at the Radisson Hotel Santa Maria; Straw Hat Pizza on North Broadway; and Rooney’s Irish Pub in Orcutt.

Participating wineries offering two-for-one tastings include Foxen Winery and Vineyard; Cambria Winery; Byron Winery; and Riverbench Vineyard and Winery.

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor & Convention Bureau has provided participating businesses with flyers, window clings from Visit California, and a marketing “toolkit” to help restaurants make the most of the promotion. In addition, the Chamber/VCB is promoting local shopping and dining with its “Thanks! for Shopping Santa Maria” campaign. The Chamber/VCB is placing the tagline in local advertising, and supplying buttons and stickers to local stores in order to help them spread the message and thank their loyal customers.

“We’re reminding locals that when they spend their money here at home, the sales tax revenue helps keep businesses, non-profit organizations and community services alive,” Keough said. “Basically, people contribute directly to their own quality of life.”
