Five men arrested in April 2012 in connection with an Isla Vista home invasion robbery have all been sentenced for their roles in the crime.

While two of them waited in a vehicle, three of the men — all five are from Ventura or Los Angeles counties — forced their way into a home on Trigo Road where there were six people inside.

Two of the suspects were armed with knives, authorities said, while one had a replica handgun he used to pistol whip two of the victims. The suspects fled with cash, marijuana, cell phones, and a laptop.

The victims gave authorities a description of the men and their vehicle, and shortly thereafter a Sheriff’s deputy spotted a car matching the description on Highway 101 in the Montecito/Summerland area. The group was pulled over and arrested.

Darren Gales, Eric Stewart, and Jaylen Stewart all pleaded guilty to robbery and received one year in county jail and five years of probation, along with a number of terms and conditions, prosecutor Von Nguyen said.

Colin Campbell and Miguel Valencia pleaded to felony grand theft of a person. Campbell was sentenced to 280 days in jail and three years of felony probation, while Valencia was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years of felony probation.
