Those participating this year are: Debra Martin Chase (producer, Princess Diaries, The Preacher’s Wife, and the upcoming Dirty Dancing), Mimi deGruy (wife of the late underwater cinematographer and documentarian Mike deGruy), Phyllis dePicciotto (Founder SBIFF), Pamela Gray (Actress, Sons of Anarchy, Devil’s Advocate), Brad Hall (producer/director/writer/ actor, SNL, and the short film Picture Paris), Roger Hedden (Playwright and screenwriter, Criminal Minds), Michael Imperioli (director/actor, The Sopranos), Ralph Macchio (actor/director, Karate Kid, Hitchcock and just completed directing an untitled short film starring Marsha Mason and Karina Smirnoff), Claudia Puig (film critic for USA Today) and Anthony Zerbe (actor, Matrix trilogy).

SBIFF has become known for their highly-acclaimed Panel series where accomplished industry professionals, many of whom have emerged as Academy Award nominees, come together for lively, informative and revealing panel discussions.

Starting at *9:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 26 at the Lobero Theatre will be SBIFF’s Directors on Directing panel, featuring some of the world’s most renowned directors who will discuss their films, the industry and the innovations of filmmaking today. Moderated by Variety’s Peter Bart, this year’s panel includes: Tom Hooper (Les Miserables), Rich Moore Wreck-It Ralph), David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook), Ben Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Malik Bendjelloul (Searching for Sugar Man), Mark Andrews (Brave), Joachim Rønning and Epsen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki).

Following the directors panel at 2:00 p.m., SBIFF’s It Starts With The Script panel features top writers who “lift the lid” on screenwriting and their journey to the big screen. Moderated by IndieWIRE’s Anne Thompson, this ever-popular panel features: Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty), Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being A Wallflower), Roman Coppola, (Moonrise Kingdom), John Gatins (Flight), Rian Johnson (Looper) and David Magee (Life of Pi).
