Nothing lures you in like a bunch of beer on ice and an active barbecue, especially in the heart of the Santa Barbara Harbor, which is how we found ourselves sucking down plates of grilled oysters and a bottle of Endless Summer chardonnay (made by Lucas & Lewellen) one recent Sunday. That’s the scene offered by Chuck’s Waterfront Grill this summer, currently every Friday and Sunday, 2-5 p.m., though crowds will determine how long the six oysters for $10 deal persists.
With a bit of cheese and twist of lemon, the warm slurpers slide down with equal parts salt and smoke, their shells still radiating that fresh grilled heat into your fingers. And don’t skimp out on the $2 shrimp tacos or $22 bottle of house white either. It would be easy to lose a few hours watching the tide roll away.
