Foresters Lead Division by a Game with Two Remaining

When the Santa Barbara Foresters take the field for their last home game of 2013 on Friday, July 26, they hope to be introduced as California Collegiate League North Division champions. They could clinch the title Thursday night at San Luis Obispo. The ’Sters (21-13) have a one game lead over the S.L.O. Blues (20-14) atop the division. They will face the Santa Paula Halos on Friday in their annual “fan appreciation” game at UCSB.

The winner of the North Division will face the L.A. Brewers, who have clinched the South, in a best-of-three CCL championship series on Saturday and Sunday.The Brewers will host the series at J Serra High School in San Juan Capistrano.

There will be a mid-summer basketball treat at San Marcos High on Friday night. The Santa Barbara Breakers will go up against the NBA Shooting Stars, a team that includes Orlando Johnson, Julyan Stone and James Nunnally. The guest coach of the Stars will be actor Don Johnson, known for his role as Sonny Crockett on “Miami Vice.”


Thursday, July 25

Swimming – Reef & Run Summer Swim Night (500m, 1k, 1-mile) and Biathlon, East Beach Bath House, 5:30 p.m. Continues every Thursday through August 30. .

Baseball – Santa Barbara Foresters at San Luis Obispo Blues, 6 p.m.

Friday, July 26

Baseball – Santa Paula Halos at Santa Barbara Foresters, UCSB Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, 5 p.m.

Basketball – Santa Barbara Breakers vs. NBA Shooting Stars, San Marcos High, 7 p.m.

Saturday, July 27

Golf – RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship qualifier, Rancho San Marcos Golf Club, 9-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m.

Baseball – California Collegiate League Championship Series: Santa Barbara Foresters at L.A. Brewers, San Juan Capistrano, 5 p.m.

Sunday, July 28

Baseball – California Collegiate League Championship Series: Santa Barbara Foresters at L.A. Brewers, San Juan Capistrano, 10 a.m. (Followed by thred game if necessary.)

Polo – USPA Lucchese Cup Finals at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, 1 p.m.

Wednesday, July 31

Running / swimming – Nite Moves Summer Sunset Series (1k swim, 5k run), Leadbetter Beach, 6 p.m. Continues every Wednesday through August 28.
