The Buske Leadership Award recognizes individuals for their demonstrated leadership, commitment and continuing service to the mission and goals of the Alliance for Community Media.

“It is truly an honor to receive this recognition from my peers”, said Matt Schuster. “This is an exciting time for community media with the increasing role of digital media in our lives and a growing number of tools and platforms for our communities to use in telling their stories and creating positive social change.”

Schuster has worked in community media for over 15 years. He has served on the ACM National Board of Directors for 6 years, where he has held positions as the Board chair, vice-chair, treasurer, as well as a participant on several regional and national committees. He is currently the chair of the ACM Bylaws Committee and serves on the ACM – Western Region Board of Directors. Schuster is currently the executive director of TV Santa Barbara. He previously worked for Louisville Metro Government as the multimedia services supervisor where he led MetroTV to repeated recognition for Overall Excellence in Government Programming.

TV Santa Barbara is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation which provides access to media technologies, education, and distribution platforms for the Santa Barbara community. TVSB operates two local community channels on COX Cable, TVSB Voice (Channel 17) and TVSB Culture (71), in addition to providing media production training, and production services for the community.
