Social Services to Add 77 Positions

The County’s Department of Social Services will add 77 positions in response to an increasing caseload, with more additions expected to come when health-care reform takes effect. The new positions won’t eat into the county’s General Fund but will be paid for with state and federal monies. While the need for social services has increased because of the economic crash, funding for the department has been decimated over the last several years, and the department has been operating below state best practice standards.
