Earl Warren Hosts 94th Annual Multi-Breed Event

For 94 years, our equine-inclined town has hosted the Multi-Breed Show, a horse-a-palooza held at Earl Warren Showgrounds. The three-day event features six classifications of steeds, with competitors vying for championship honors in their respective categories. Breeds represented include American saddlebred, which counts thoroughbreds and Morgans as its ancestors; Friesian, which originated in the Netherlands and served as war horses in the Middle Ages; paso fino (“fine step”), introduced into the U.S. from Puerto Rico and Colombia in the 1950s; Welsh, the versatile, hardy little ponies from the British Isles originating before 1600 BCE; hackneys, known for their high-stepping and stamina; and standardbred, harness-racing experts developed in North America. The gathering takes place Wednesday, July 3-Saturday, July 6, at Earl Warren Showgrounds, 3400 Calle Real. For more information, call 687-0766 or visit
