Over-Served

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Tyler Hayden wrote about a negligence lawsuit involving a 22-year-old Santa Barbara City College student who became so intoxicated he fell off the bar stool. The bartender called a cab for this drunken student. That cab belonged to the Absolute Cab Co. I am a disabled native Californian and have enjoyed the service provided by Absolute ever since becoming aware of the company. All of the Absolute drivers are courteous, thoughtful, and helpful. The owner, Joshua Klein, is a responsible, caring, and sincere owner whose mantra is to give the most competent professional service.

The mother of the college student is holding the cab driver and the cab company responsible for the death of her son, who got out of the cab to throw up. Then, instead of getting back into the cab, her son began walking in a different direction, so the driver went on to another fare. The severely intoxicated college student managed to walk to Highway 101, and was run over and killed by a motorist driving south on the freeway.

The wrong defendant is accused in this case. The entity responsible for that 22-yr-old college student’s tragic night is the cocktail lounge that over-served him.
