I suppose the reason I chose not to have children is that it’s such a dog-eat-dog world. There’s hardly any room in this world for me. How could I then expect room in the world for any offspring?

But a word about marriage and procreation in modern times (from my perspective, of course). A not inconsiderable number of marriages are undertaken just to ward off any suspicion of homosexuality the outside world might have. Indeed, many marriages overall are nonsense. I have childhood friends who, in 28 years of marriage, have one or two children. I have to ask, “What did you do with your life?” Did my friends and their spouses really need to fly assembled in the marriage formation for nearly their whole adult lives because of one or two token kids? Talk about going the distance just to remain in the in-crowd. I see it everyday.
