Spring Arts Preview 2013: Pop, Rock and Jazz

March 21-June 20

Dreamy, ambient, completely out-there; these are just some of the words used to describe Sigur Rós. That the trio has grown from Icelandic wunderkinds into international super stars since their start in 1994 is no fluke; their ethereal and classically informed compositions are some of the most thoughtfully constructed and beautifully executed offerings the pop music world has to offer. Add to that frontman Jónsi Birgisson’s heartbreakingly lilting vocals — and the fact that he’s made up his own nonliteral singing language specifically for the band — and you’ve got the makings for a concert experience that is, quite literally, unlike any other.
