Santa Barbara High clinched the Channel League boys volleyball championship by defeating Dos Pueblos in a regular-season finale that went the full five games Tuesday night. Coming up next week for the Dons, as well as second-place San Marcos and Dos Pueblos, which finished third, are the CIF Division 2 playoffs.

The league baseball race also will come down to next week’s two games between Dos Pueblos (7-1) and Santa Barbara (6-2).

Dos Pueblos will host the Channel League Swimming Finals on Thursday (May 2), and the league Track and Field Finals will take place on Nick Carter Track at SBCC’s La Playa Stadium on Friday.

UCSB, 8-7 in Big West baseball, hosts UC Irvine (10-5) in a three-game series this weekend. SBCC’s baseball season ended Tuesday with a 6-3 loss to Compton in the Southern Cal Regionals. Nebraska-bound shortstop Steven Reveles, the Western State Conference North player of the year, ended his Vaquero career on a 12-game hitting streak.

Athletes in grades 1-8 will begin competing at 9 a.m. Sunday in the Club West All County Youth Track and Field Championships at La Playa Stadium. Registration costs $20 for four events.
