Man Wanted for Attempted Murder in Carpinteria

Victim Knows Suspect as ‘Rob’

A 44-year-old man living at the Motel 6 in Carpinteria was stabbed Thursday night and Sheriff’s detectives are on the hunt for the suspect wanted for attempted murder.

The victim, who knows the suspect as “Rob” and said they worked together and had an altercation several months ago, was stabbed in front of his room at around 10:15 p.m. The victim’s roommate ran to the hotel lobby to alert the clerk to call 9-1-1. The suspect had fled the scene and the victim was rushed to the hospital.

In a statement provided to authorities, the victim described “Rob” as “a half black, half Indian male adult, approximately 30-40 years of age, 5’9” tall with a stocky build, curly hair and was wearing a white t-shirt.”

Immediately following the incident Sheriff’s deputies, CHP officers, and two K9 units searched the area but made no arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Chris Corbett with the Criminal Investigations Unit at (805) 684-5405 x424.
