Whether encouraging people to give, asking people to take a stand, or recruiting volunteers, social media can be an incredibly valuable tool. But the crowds won’t come flocking on their own. Organizations have many questions about how to make the best use of social media to advance their work with limited time and resources. What does it take to become a “Networked Nonprofit” and implement effective social media practices? And what does it mean for the structure and culture of your organization?

Internationally acclaimed Master Trainer and author, Beth Kanter, will help you learn how to implement a successful strategy on a limited budget.

In Santa Maria, Beth will offer the half-day workshop Becoming A Networked Nonprofit: Digital Strategies for Community-Based Nonprofits. Based on her popular Networked Nonprofit books, this basic workshop will help you learn how to:

· Map your networks, develop a strategy that fits your capacity to implement, and best practices for engagement and content strategy.

· Use assessment tools to gauge your current level of social media practice and identify areas for improvement.

· Use time-saving tips to make your social media more effective

The workshop fee is $25 per person and sliding scale registrations are available by calling the Fund at 962-9164.

In this interactive workshop Beth will cover internal adoption issues, networked strategies, integrated digital strategy, and measurement as well as practical steps for being a successful networked nonprofit. The workshop program is based on Beth’s two books: The Networked Nonprofit and Measuring the Networked Nonprofit.

This more advanced workshop will help you learn how to:

Apply the initial steps for facilitating needed organizational culture change in order to adopt social media and networked strategies effectively

Understand the basic principles for leveraging networks and integration of social media into your not-for-profit’s communications strategy

Learn effective practices of measurement, sense-making, learning and mindfulness required to implement an integrated social media strategy that achieves results
