Daniel Dreifuss, president of Scooters of Anarchy, a scooter club based in Santa Maria. Rachel Hoyt, president of Los Caped Barbarinos of Santa Barbara, decided to have a scooter rally and we need your help.

Despite the fact that many scooter owners were led to the lifestyle by a desire to save fuel and, subsequently, the environment, those on the outside often see the choice as purely frivolous. They imagine we wanted a new toy, another chance to be one of the cool kids, and although they are partially correct, some of us hope to use the scooter community to make a difference in the world beyond the gas pump. Los Caped Barbarinos (LCB) formed earlier this year with the goal of spreading silliness and smiles wherever they rode by wearing caped scooterhero attire. Scooters of Anarchy (SOA) formed in 2012 to provide fun rides to local scooter riders and emulated the hit show in their daily life. Together we would like to prove that we aren’t just about having fun, but we need your help to do it.

Once we realized the Vesparados weren’t organizing their big annual event, the Los Caped Barbarinos and Scooters of Anarchy leaders began working hard to bring the scooter community together for a belated end of summer rally. Although our rally will contain the typical components - riding, partying, and a raffle - it is also intended to be a fundraiser. While most scooter groups attempt to keep some funds set aside to help plan future events, we feel no need to subsidize our fun. If the money collected from our members for attendance and raffle tickets exceeds our expenses for the event as planned, we will donate all excess funds to CASA of Santa Barbara County. We believe this non-profit, which tries to ensure that no abused, neglected, or abandoned child gets lost in the juvenile dependency system, needs our support more than any other. We hope that choosing them as our beneficiary will raise awareness for their cause among the community in addition to supporting them financially.

Yet, in order to create surplus funds to support CASA through a thriving scooter community, we will need sponsors who want to help us have an amazing rally. Do you have a raffle prize you could donate? Do you want to give us a discounted or free t-shirts, patches, food, or drinks? Do you have an awesome location where we should host our end of rally party? All supporters of the “Summer Never Ends” scooter rally will receive a multitude of praise on Facebook, Twitter, and wherever LCB and SOA roam. Furthermore, they will always be known as the first to support our scoot-tastic cause.

We would also except cash donations to help keep cost down for the rally pack and so more money can be donated.
