Sports Highlights: Oct. 3-10

A month into the football season, three area high school teams are still unbeaten. All three will be tested on the road this weekend. San Marcos (5-0) faces Nordhoff, also unbeaten, in Ojai on Friday night, while Carpinteria (5-0) travels to Santa Monica Catholic. Bishop Diego (4-0) meets 2012 state finalist Santa Fe Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday in Solana Beach.

SBCC puts its perfect record (4-0) on the line Saturday at La Playa Stadium against L.A. Southwest.

UCSB opens Big West Conference soccer action with four matches at Harder Stadium. The Gaucho men (5-4) face Cal State Fullerton on Friday night and UC Riverside on Sunday. The women’s team (6-4-1) takes on Long Beach State and UC Irvine.

The Gaucho women’s volleyball team plays host to Cal Poly in a Blue-Green rivalry match Satuday night.

Westmont College plays its homecoming soccer match Saturday against San Diego Christian. At halftime of the men’s game, the 2012-13 Warrior women’s basketball team will receive NAIA championship rings in a special ceremony.
