An unidentified suspect was shot by Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies last night off Padaro Lane near Carpinteria. The suspect is in critical condition; no deputies were injured.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover, deputies responded at around 7:45 p.m. to the 3200 block of Beach Club Drive on a report of a possible trespasser. “During the investigation, an officer involved shooting took place,” Hoover said in a prepared statement, explaining no other information on the incident is being released at this time. She said the Sheriff’s Office may issue another statement later in the day.

There is a lot more to this story than what has been published here so far - caught in the act for burglary, carrying a gun, attempting to flee in a patrol car . . . check another on line source.

Was the gun loaded? Did he shoot first? Did he even raise the gun at the officers? Attempting to flee in a patrol car? Shoot the damn tires...
