The Santa Barbara Public Library System’s Santa Ynez Branch will re-open to the public on Saturday, October 12, after being closed three weeks for a renovation. During the closure, the Friends of the Library of Santa Ynez Valley worked with local contractors to refurbish the original wood flooring, exterior and shelving in the historic library. The Santa Ynez Branch celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.

Beginning the week of October 15, the Solvang Branch will be expanding and changing its operating hours. The additional hours were made possible due to the County of Santa Barbara increased funding for county libraries, and due to increased funding by the City of Solvang and continued support by the Friends of the Library of Santa Ynez Valley. The library will be open two additional hours a week, and will open at 10 a.m. five days a week instead of at 11 a.m.

The Grange in Los Olivos, which houses the Los Olivos Branch, was damaged by a fire in September and is currently closed until further notice. Currently, there is no scheduled date for a re-opening.
