On Friday, October 18, 2013, from 4pm-dusk, The Center for Urban Agriculture at Fairview Gardens will celebrate the grand re-opening of their farm stand. The community will gather at the farm stand for a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by an evening of local food, wine, music and art on the farm.

After years of planning and construction, Fairview Gardens is ready to re-open its storefront, which has been closed since December of 2009 for remodeling. The farm stand will continue its mission of providing a community resource for local, organic produce, eggs, and products and will strive to build community by supporting as many local farms and food artisans as possible.

At the Grand Re-opening, area artists will paint on site during the event and finished works will be auctioned off to benefit Fairview Gardens’ many education programs. Local chefs and food artisans will showcase fresh produce from the farm and products that will be available for purchase at the new farm stand. Samples will be offered and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Fairview Gardens is a non-profit educational farm that builds critical connections between community, agriculture and education by innovating and producing safe, organic, locally-grown foods in a sustainable manner, serving as a community-based educational resource, advocating for appropriately scaled, healthy food systems, and providing engaging, hands-on experience with farming. Fairview Gardens envisions a sustainable world for future generations where knowing the source of food is common knowledge and being connected to nature is common practice.

The Center for Urban Agriculture at Fairview Gardens is located at 598 North Fairview Avenue in Goleta. The farm stand is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and self-guided farm tours are welcome and encouraged from 10 a.m. to sunset.
