Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital’s 31st Annual Health Fair Distributes 445 Free Flu Shots & Features 46 Exhibitors

Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) hosted its 31st Annual Health Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel in Buellton. More than 1,100 people of all ages attended the free event that featured 46 exhibitors and display booths, giveaways and refreshments. The Health Fair is staffed by volunteers from SYVCH, the SYVCH Auxiliary and the SYVCH Foundation board; all coordinated and hosted by the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the hospital.

According to Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Vice-President Wende Cappetta, “We are thrilled with the response to our community outreach. Our hospital staff, auxiliary members and board members deserve a lot of praise for volunteering their time at the event. They administered 445 free flu shots, free blood pressure checks , as well as providing discount coupons for screening blood tests and an incredible amount of information about our services including our new MRI, Digital Imaging, Emergency Department, Surgery, Nutrition, Lifeline, Rehabilitation and our Pet Therapy Program .”

The SYVCH Auxiliary also offered a Jewelry Sale with assorted necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings with all proceeds supporting the hospital. In celebration of the health fair’s 31st anniversary, prize drawings for 31 free pink gift totes containing items and certificates from local business were awarded every half hour—with the grand prize a two-night stay at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriot Hotel.

SYVCH Foundation Administrator June Martin remarked, “We sincerely thank all our vendors, volunteers and our sponsors including By Faith Massage, Curtis Winery, MIX 96.7FM Radio, Montecito Bank & Trust, New Frontiers Natural Marketplace, Performance Fitness, Rio Vista Chevrolet and the SYVCH Auxiliary New To You Thrift Shop who made this event such a big success. We extend much appreciation to the staff and management of the Santa Ynez Valley Marriot who contributed the grand prize.”

The 32nd Annual SYVCH Health Fair has been scheduled at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel for Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
