The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is pleased to welcome Sunstone Estate Winery as a major sponsor of the 2014 edition of the festival.

In celebration of this association, Sunstone Estate Winery has crafted a wine blend to be exclusively featured at select events at the 2014 SBIFF. The appropriately named CUVEE’ LUMIERE’ by Sunstone is a Bordeaux blend grown locally in the Santa Ynez Valley created by Sunstone Winery and inspired by the Lumiere Brothers, inventors and manufacturers of the early motion picture camera and projector “Cinématographe” and creators of the film La Sortie des Ouvries de l’usine Lumiere (Workers Leaving the Lumiere Factory) in 1895, which is considered the first motion picture.

When Sunstone CUVEE’ LUMIERE premiers at The Santa Barbara International Film Festival it pays tribute to both the festival and to cinematic history. The specially designed label features an image of the very first movie camera and has incorporated the SBIFF logo as well.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to be involved with SBIFF in 2014,” said Sunstone Estate Winery CEO Bion Rice. “This is truly one of our favorite events of the year. Being able to now also share our wines and the Sunstone Estate experience with the thousands of festival attendees in our local community is a dream come true.”

Being one of the first wineries in SB County to be certified by CCOF, Sunstone Estate Winery is committed to organic farming and sustainability. Sunstone is renowned for its Rhone varietals, including Viognier, which received a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Wine Competition, and their unique Syrah that rated 90 Points at the Wine Enthusiast’s Beverage Testing Institute. Highly acclaimed “Eros”, a Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, has earned Best of Class at the Los Angeles County Fair, and also received 90 Points in Wine Enthusiast. And because locals know best, Sunstone has also been honored by the Santa Barbara Independent reader poll as “Santa Barbara’s Favorite Red Wine” and “Best Tasting Room”.
