The Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bicycle Ride will move through Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties beginning Sunday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 4.

The cyclists will use portions of Highways 1, 101, 150, 154, 166, 217, and 246 during the daytime hours as they travel from Santa Cruz to the Santa Barbara/Ventura County line.

In addition, the southbound #2 (slow) lane of Highway 101 just south of Refugio State Beach (Santa Barbara County) will be closed on Friday, October 4 between the hours of 7:30 am and 1 pm, so that a temporary rest stop can be provided for the cyclists.

Law enforcement and ride officials will be located along the route to ensure the safety of motorists, participants, and pedestrians. Motorists are advised to be aware of the riders as they move through the area and to ‘share the road’.

For traffic updates on other state highways on the Central Coast, motorists can call Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs at 805-549-3318 or can visit the District 5 website at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist05/maint/road/upslo.htm
