Spirit of Fiesta Auditions

Young Dancers Try Out for the Coveted Honors

With the 90th Old Spanish Days only four months away, preparations are already underway. One of the first orders of business is selecting the young dancers who will serve as Spirits during the August celebration. For 65 years, Spirits have been a part of Fiesta, and this year sees 23 girls vying for the honors. The Spirit of Fiesta participates in numerous events, including La Fiesta Pequeña, El Desfile Histórico parade, and civic organization receptions, while the Junior Spirit leads El Desfile de Los Niños and dances at events, including the mercados. Auditions take place Saturday, April 12, 1 p.m., at the S.B. High School auditorium, 700 E. Anapamu St. Tickets are $25 and include a post-tryout reception at El Paseo restaurant.
