Trout Derby at Cachuma

A flare at the Cachuma Lake harbor will signal the beginning of the 19th annual Nature Center Trout Derby at 6 am on Saturday, April 12. Anglers of all ages will have until noon on Sunday to try landing the fish that will bring them prizes. Over $5,000 in cash and several thousand more in merchandise will be offered.

Six trout plants have been made at the lake this year. The last was scheduled on Thursday, April 10.

Registration for the derby costs $40 or $10 for youths ages 4-15. It will benefit the Neal Taylor Nature Center. Fishing licenses are required for age 16 and over. For further information, call the trout derby hotline at 805-693-8381.
