Have you signed the petition to qualify an initiative to ban fracking in Santa Barbara County for the November 2014 ballot? S.B. County Water Guardians’ effort to collect 18,000 signatures is in its final push, it only takes 30 seconds, and we need your support. Volunteers are currently collecting signatures at markets, stores, community sites, and events. If you are concerned about the possibility of 7,700 new sites for fracking being developed in S.B. County, the time to sign is now. It could be the most important 30 seconds you can spend to preserve S.B. water and air quality for your children.

S.B. County cannot afford the risks of groundwater, surface water, and air pollution, as well as the increased seismic activity posed by fracking. As a contributing component of global climate change, fracking continues our toxic reliance on fossil fuels, while utilizing millions of tons of water, which we need for municipal and agricultural use. International, national, state, and local geologists and environmental scientists have asked communities to organize, and Rebecca Claassen, prime mover and shaker of S.B. Water Guardians, has done just that. We don’t have much time left in our campaign. Please don’t be one of the people who walks past me and says, “I don’t have time.” Sign today!
