SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (March 2014) – On Sunday, April 27, 2014 the Junior League of Santa Barbara will host its spring benefit, “Prohibition at the Polo Field”, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. The afternoon soirée will feature a Prohibition-themed atmosphere enhanced by authentic cocktails and local cuisine.

Guests will be transported back to the 1920’s and the era of Prohibition when the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverage was outlawed. Bootleggers, flappers and mobsters abound while Prohibition Agents are hot on the trail. Representatives of the Molly Pitcher Club, a women’s anti-Prohibition organization founded in 1922, will share JLSB treasures from the past that have had a lasting impact. Party guests will get further into the speakeasy spirit as they smuggle cocktails from Rum Row and indulge in decadent cuisine guarded by The Untouchables. It’s a roaring social affair when you bypass the Prohibition Bureau and purchase Twenty-First Amendment tickets reserved for you and eleven of your friends!

Prohibition at the Polo Field will raise funds to support the Junior League of Santa Barbara’s efforts to improve the lives of children, youth, and families in the community. Tickets for the event start at $75.00 for General Admission or $125.00 for VIP Admission and are available for purchase through the Junior League of Santa Barbara’s website at www.jlsantabarbara.org or by phone (805) 963-2704. Period attire reminiscent of the 1920’s – 1930’s is encouraged.

The Junior League of Santa Barbara would like to extend special thanks to the event’s Title Sponsor, Porsche, for their generous support. Additional underwriting and sponsorship opportunities are available at levels ranging from $500.00 extending to $15,000.00.
