Michelle Greene has been appointed Interim City Manager for the City of Goleta effective immediately. A written agreement with the City Council will be considered at the May 6, 2014 City Council meeting.

Ms. Greene’s appointment comes on the heels of the resignation by Daniel Singer as City Manager. He submitted his letter of resignation on April 16, 2014 and is moving to the City of Poway to serve as its City Manager. The City Council met at a special meeting on April 21, 2014 and unanimously agreed to appoint the Deputy City Manager Greene to the position of Interim City Manager.

“The City Council is thrilled to have an employee of Ms. Greene’s caliber to help us through this transition,” said Mayor Michael T. Bennett. “The City Council has complete confidence in her ability to lead the organization.”

As Deputy City Manager, she is the only employee other than the City Manager, that has had an organization-wide purview. She has been tasked with developing and implementing many of the projects necessary for the efficient running of the City government structure.

Ms. Greene has been the Deputy City Manager since 2013. Prior to becoming Deputy City Manager she was the Administrative Services Director. She has been an employee of Goleta since 2004.
