Right Center Left?

The community owes Lanny Ebenstein a debt of thanks for his recent support of the Santa Barbara City College bond, as well as for his support of many other school bonds in recent years. I was also interested to read in an online opinion piece in The Independent this summer that he is pro-choice and supports gay marriage. He’s also in favor of district elections.

In all candor, why doesn’t Lanny just re-register as a Democrat? Other than his opposition to public employee unions, he appears closer to Democrats on more issues than to Republicans.
