PSA Information to the Media

SANTA BARBARA, Ca. February 4, 2014 – The Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD) has established a multitude of ways in which to provide information to the media. Information is released to the media in the following ways:


Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s new website went live at 5 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2013. We consider the website as a vital communication link with the public and our department. The new website features a new, modern look with up to date information and content. The Department Public Information Officer will be able to make updates quicker, keeping the public, county officials and news agencies informed. News Release

News release: an officially prepared statement of fact, written or oral. Responsibility for the preparation and distribution of the news release shall rest with the department PIO.

Public Service Announcement

PSA: provided weekly to the media concerning safety tips and educational matters of the department.

Media Notifications

Code 20 pages via text message that an incident is potentially newsworthy, arouses public interest, or causes public impact. Media must contact the PIO to sign-up to receive the page.
